Thank you for helping make the Chicago Play Streets events a success!

When was the last time you got outside to play tag with your kids? This newest series of Play Street will provide the Chicago community with an opportunity to embrace the outdoors as a family. If tag isn’t your thing, all Play Streets will have a wide variety of activities to choose from, so make sure to try out a few. You might even come across a new favorite!

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois and the City of Chicago.

In 2012, under an initiative sponsored by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) and the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH), Active Transportation Alliance (Active Trans), Local Initiatives Support Corporation/Chicago (LISC/Chicago) and World Sport Chicago (WSC) teamed up to bring the first Play Streets events to the Chicago community. These 50 community-driven events offered residents a unique opportunity to come together and reclaim public spaces across the city as their own through play and physical activity. This coming year, through the renewed partnership with BCBSIL, and the support of the national Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) and the Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA), Active Trans, LISC/Chicago and WSC will collaborate once again to welcome warmer weather back to Chicago with multiple spring Play Street events. The National Play Streets Initiative, developed out of a partnership between The Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association and PHA, will provide Chicago families with another opportunity to come together to improve community health.
